Çeşme gets its name from the region's abundant water sources and historic fountains ("çeşme" means fountain in Turkish). Home to ancient settlements like Erythrai and Krissa, the peninsula still draws visitors to Çeşme Castle, built by the Genoese in the 14th century. An important Ottoman-era port town, Çeşme made history with the 1770 Battle of Çeşme. Today the castle's museum displays weapons and ship remains from that era. It's about a 15-minute drive from our hotel, and famous for its sunset photos.

With its shallow, clear water, Ilıca Beach is an especially great choice for families with children. Miles of golden sand stretch out with views of Nar Island in the background. In summer the sea is usually very calm in the early morning, while afternoons bring a light breeze to cool off in. The walking and cycling path along the beach runs from our area all the way to Boyalık. Since our hotel is only 50 meters from the beach, you can just grab your towel and walk to the sea.

The Alaçatı Surf Center is considered one of Europe's best windsurfing destinations thanks to its steady, reliable winds. Between May and September, the afternoon "meltemi" wind offers ideal conditions for both beginners and professionals. Local surf schools offer lessons from beginner to advanced level, and equipment rental is available too. It's a 10-minute drive from our hotel to the Alaçatı Surf Center — head over early in the morning and spend the whole day there if you like.

Walking Alaçatı's narrow streets means getting lost among stone houses that carry the traces of Greek architecture. The old town is full of boutique hotels, concept stores, and olive oil producers' shops. Don't leave in the evening without trying the herby Aegean meze at the restaurants tucked into the side streets. It's quieter from November to April, while June to August brings a lively nightlife scene. You can reach Alaçatı from our hotel by minibus or car in about 10 minutes.

Çeşme cuisine brings together the Aegean's abundant wild greens and the day's fresh catch. Regional specialties like Alaçatı's sautéed wild greens, sea beans, and shrimp casserole are must-try dishes. Fish restaurants in and around Ilıca serve fresh sea bream, sea bass and red mullet depending on the season. At breakfast, Aegean cheeses in olive oil and homemade jams take center stage — and we feature these local flavors in our own buffet breakfast too.

Beyond Ilıca, the Çeşme peninsula has many coves waiting to be explored. Kızılkum's reddish sand and shallow waters, Boyalık's suitability for surfing and water sports, and Pırlanta Beach's untouched atmosphere each offer a different experience. The most practical way to reach Çeşme from Adnan Menderes Airport is the Havaş shuttle service, which runs regularly according to flight schedules and takes about 1 hour. Alternatively, you can take the İZBAN train to Üçkuyular and then an intercity bus to Çeşme. For guests who prefer a private transfer, we arrange airport transfers for an extra fee — just let us know when booking.

From June to September, Çeşme hosts music festivals, sailing races and local celebrations. The Alaçatı Herb Festival highlights the region's wild-greens cuisine in spring, while summer concerts at beach clubs liven up the nightlife. Ilıca's shallow, wave-free sea makes it one of the safest beaches in Çeşme for families with young children. Local water parks and boat tours also offer fun alternatives for kids. In the evening, the seaside promenade in central Çeşme, with its ice cream shops and playgrounds, is a great route for family time. Thanks to our hotel's walking-distance location to the beach, planning your day with young children is easy.

During the July-August high season, accommodation and car rental prices rise, so early booking is recommended. For local transport, shared minibuses ("dolmuş") are an economical, frequent option. While the afternoon "meltemi" breeze is refreshing, it's worth having a light windbreaker for open areas. Sunscreen and a hat are a must if you'll be out all day under the Aegean sun. Finally, for guests staying in Ilıca, the most practical option is a hotel within walking distance of both the center and the beach.
